This documentation is provided with the HEAT environment and describes this HEAT instance.

HCP VBS

HCP VBS (HCPVBS) is a C++ Gears Studio component that loads inside VBS4 (Bohemia Interactive Simulations). It observes the running mission - entity positions, orientation, damage, weapon and combat state, and a wide range of simulation events - and publishes it to HEAT Capture. It does not control simulator entities and does not consume vehicle inputs: the mission runs exactly as VBS4 and its scenario define it, regardless of whether HCP VBS is loaded.

🚫

The plugin ships configured for a named-pipe transport (\\.\pipe\HEATCollector) that has no counterpart in current HEAT Capture: nothing in HEAT Capture connects to that pipe as a client. With the shipped configuration, HCP VBS creates the pipe, waits for a client that never arrives, and every publish attempt fails and retries, forever, without HEAT Capture ever receiving data. See Configure for the fix: switch to the WebSocket transport, which is what HEAT Capture actually exposes.

What you need before starting

  • VBS4 25.1 or later, with Gears Studio for component management and deployment.
  • HEAT Capture running and reachable from the VBS4 workstation, with a user signed in - the session-control calls this plugin makes require it.
