The Control Centre

The HEAT Control Centre is the operator and administrator portal for a deployed HEAT environment. It is where you watch the cluster, manage the entities that training depends on, and troubleshoot sessions.

The current Control Centre is served at /admin. You sign in at /login with a HEAT Auth account and land on the Monitoring overview at /admin/monitoring.

An older console is still served at /main, the original Cluster Manager. It is deprecated and kept only for the few screens the new console has not yet replaced. Prefer /admin for all operator work. See The legacy console for what remains there and why.

The Control Centre is not the HEAT dashboard. The dashboard is where instructors and trainees read results. The Control Centre is where administrators keep the environment that produces them running.

The navigation

The left sidebar groups the console into sections. Each row below is a page in this guide.

GroupPages
MonitoringOverview, Platform Advisor, Cluster, Host Agents, Tasks, Logs, Live Ingestion
DataProjects, Sessions, Session Exports, Dimensions
WorkloadsTemplates, Runners
Developer ToolsOffline Tokens, Shell, Agent MCP
SupportIn-app Documentation and an API Reference, both served offline with the environment
OperationsPatches, Service Restarts, Scratch Files
PlatformIdentity, Configuration, Data Sources, Features, Version Details

The Support group holds the same handbook you are reading, bundled into the environment, and a browser for the platform’s API specification. Both work with no internet connection.

Who can open it

The Control Centre is gated by role. Only an Administrator or a Developer account can open /admin. Any other account is shown an access notice and sent back to the dashboard.

RoleControl Centre access
AdministratorEvery section
DeveloperEvery section in the sidebar. A few controls are Administrator only, such as viewing a data source connection string and issuing offline tokens
InstructorNone. Reads results in the dashboard
TraineeNone. Reads their own results in the dashboard

The sidebar footer shows the signed-in operator and a banner naming the environment type and mode, for example On-Premises Environment, PRODUCTION.

What the Control Centre is not

The Control Centre is not an authoring environment. Session templates, node templates, runners and dashboard layouts are built by developers, then registered here. See Session templates for where that work starts.

It is not the identity service. HEAT Auth holds accounts and issues tokens. The Control Centre gives you screens to manage them.

It does not show you the contents of session data. The Sessions pages tell you that outputs exist, where they are stored and whether processing succeeded. Reading the results is the dashboard’s job.

Opens your browser's print dialog. Choose "Save as PDF" as the destination.
