This documentation is provided with the HEAT environment and describes this HEAT instance.

Configure the EmotiBit module

Settings are edited in HEAT Capture’s module settings UI, under HEAT.EmotibitModule.

🚫

LocalIPs defaults to two addresses baked into the module’s source (192.168.1.188, 192.168.1.167). These belong to the original developer’s network, not yours. If unicast discovery is enabled, set this to the actual local IP address of the workstation running HEAT Capture before first use, or discovery will silently fail.

Discovery

EmotiBit advertises itself over Wi-Fi. The module can find it by broadcast, by scanning a range of unicast addresses on the same subnet, or both.

SettingTypeDefaultWhat it controls
EnableBroadcastbooleantrueSend discovery broadcasts on the local subnet.
EnableUnicastbooleantrueScan a range of unicast addresses for a device (see below).
LocalIPslist of strings["192.168.1.188", "192.168.1.167"]Local IP address(es) of the workstation to advertise from. Must be changed to match the real network - see warning above.
SendAdvertisingIntervalinteger (ms)1000Time between discovery broadcasts.
CheckAdvertisingIntervalinteger (ms)100How often the module checks for a device’s response to a broadcast.
UnicastIpRangeLowerBoundinteger2Lowest last-octet value scanned when unicast discovery is enabled.
UnicastIpRangeUpperBoundinteger254Highest last-octet value scanned. Unicast discovery only ever scans the workstation’s own /24 subnet - it cannot reach a device on a different subnet or VLAN.
NUnicastIpsPerLoopinteger1Addresses scanned per loop iteration.
UnicastMinLoopDelayinteger (s)3Minimum delay between unicast scan loops.
AdvertisingThreadSleepinteger (µs)1000Idle time between iterations of the advertising thread. Not the same unit as the interval settings above.

Sensors and network filtering

SettingTypeDefaultWhat it controls
SensorWhiteListlist of stringsEA, EL, ER, PI, PR, PG, TH, AX, AY, AZ, GX, GY, GZ, MX, MY, MZ, HR, BI, SA, SFThe EmotiBit type tags this module requests from the device. A tag left out of this list is never requested, even if the connected device supports it. See Data produced for what each tag is.
NetworkIncludeListlist of strings["*.*.*.*"]IP address patterns eligible for discovery.
NetworkExcludeListlist of strings["0.0.0.0"]IP address patterns excluded from discovery, checked after the include list.
DataThreadSleepinteger (µs)1000Idle time between iterations of the data collection thread.
CollectMaxNumberOfPacketsinteger0Caps the number of packets collected per capture tick. 0 means unlimited.
DebugLogsbooleanfalseEnables verbose logging from the native bridge library.

Host settings

This module also exposes the generic settings every HEAT Capture module has - Enabled, Interval, OverrideNodeId/NodeId, Timeout. See Manage capture modules for what each does.
