Open DIS module
The Open DIS module listens for DIS (IEEE 1278.1) Protocol Data Units on the network - broadcast or multicast UDP - using a native Rust receiver, and republishes each one HEAT Capture receives as an opaque binary payload. HEAT Capture does not decode DIS PDU contents; entity positions, fire events and every other DIS concept stay inside the raw bytes, for whatever consumes the session downstream to parse.
A different lifecycle from other modules
This module runs continuously from the moment HEAT Capture starts, independent of any capture session - unlike every other module in this catalogue, which starts and stops with the session. That is also how it can do something no other module does: trigger a capture session to start or stop by itself, based on the DIS traffic it sees. See Configure for the settings that control this.
What you need
- A DIS-7 (IEEE 1278.1) compliant source on the network, sending to the configured UDP port as a broadcast or to the configured multicast group.
- This module declares the
network.listencapability forudp/3000, HEAT Capture’s default DIS port. ChangingUdpPortmoves the listener outside the firewall scope built from that declaration - see Configure and Interface Control Document Section 9.
